el_class=&#8221;sidebar-page-menu&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;30834&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_shadow_3d&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1774036471825{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}&#8221;]\n<div class=\"mk-single-content clearfix\">\n<p><strong>Here is what you need to know about this paid general holiday.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">Employer<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You need to give your employees (At the employer&#8217;s choice) the following holiday:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>April 3rd, 2026 <strong>(Good Friday)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>OR<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>April 6th, 2026 <strong>(Easter Monday)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">Employee<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You need to satisfy <strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">all the following conditions<\/span><\/strong> to receive a statutory general holiday:<\/p>\n<p>Worked on the <strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">last working day<\/span><\/strong> preceding the holiday <strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">and<\/span><\/strong> on the <strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">first working day<\/span><\/strong> following the holiday.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">If you were absent<\/span><\/strong> on one of these days, you may still receive a statutory general day.<\/p>\n<p>If you received authorization from your employer <strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">or<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0have a valid reason for being absent and receives no indemnity from the CNESST.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">\u201cWorking day\u201d as defined in the Decree<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Working days vary<strong> <span style=\"color: #333333\">according to the employee\u2019s duties<\/span><\/strong> (working hours) rather than the undertaking.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #f78e1e\">Calculating the indemnity to be paid<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">Working day for an employee:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The indemnity is equal to a standard workday.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">Non-working day or less than 20 days of uninterrupted service for an employee:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">1\/20 of the wages earned<\/span><\/strong> during the 4 complete weeks of pay preceding the week of the holiday <strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">excluding overtime<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #f78e1e\">FAQS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">1.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">Can a holiday be taken on another day?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">No<\/span><\/strong>, subject to some exceptions:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">Non-working day for an employee:<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">The holiday can be deferred<\/span><\/strong> within the 15 days preceding or following the holiday.<br \/>\nThe employee and the employer must<strong><span style=\"color: #333333\"> both agree<\/span><\/strong> to defer the holiday.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">Employees on vacation:<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nThe employer pays the indemnity for the holiday or the employee and the employer must <strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">both agree<\/span><\/strong> to defer the holiday.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">2.\u00a0Do I get paid overtime if I work on a statutory holiday?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">Yes<\/span><\/strong>. The holiday indemnity is <strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">payable in addition to the hours worked<\/span><\/strong>.<br \/>\nTime over<strong><span style=\"color: #333333\"> 10 hours\/day including the holiday<\/span><\/strong> is paid as overtime (+50%).<br \/>\nTime over <strong><span style=\"color: #333333\">40 hours\/week including the statutory holiday<\/span><\/strong> is paid as overtime (+50%).<\/p>\n<p><strong>***IMPORTANT***<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The information above has been provided for information purposes and does not replace the Decree.
