Overview

The CPA Montréal is responsible for evaluating the professional qualification of employees governed by the Decree and working under its jurisdiction.

Objectives set for the evaluation of professional qualification:

  • Protecting the public interest by ensuring that the public receives high quality services from qualified professionals;
  • Ensuring the continuing training of employees, who work in a constantly evolving field, to ensure that they are always equal to the technological challenges of today's automobiles.

Role of the Qualification Department

  • Receiving candidate requests to obtain a first competency card, replace a card or take a professional qualification exam;
  • Reviewing candidates' files to ensure that they have accumulated the required total of hours prior to obtaining their desired competency card;
  • Delivering qualification certificates, as well as apprentice and journeyman cards;
  • Tracking the amount of apprenticeship hours worked by candidates and authorizes them to take the professional qualification exam once their required hours are completed;
  • Managing the professional qualification exams: invites candidates, marks copies, provides results and gives advice to candidates based on their results.
